Managing Risk Mitigation Steps (RMS)

This article explains how to manage the risk mitigation steps, or RMS: measures, controls and actions.

More specifically, it explains how to create an RMS in its library, how to add an existing RMS to a risk, and how to edit, remove or delete an RMS.

For a more general explanation of RMSs, and to find out how to create an RMS in a risk, see Mitigating a risk.

Creating an RMS in its library

You can create a risk mitigation step (RMS) in its library without immediately adding it to a risk. Once in the library, at any time you can:

  • edit the RMS as needed;

  • add it to one or more risks.

To create an RMS in its library:

  1. In the sidebar, click ManagementMeasures or Controls or Actions.

2. On the page of the RMS, click the Create measure / Create control / Create action button.

3. In the dialog box that opens, complete the fields and click Create.

For more information on completing the dialog box fields, see Mitigating a risk.

Adding an existing RMS to a risk

You can add an existing measure or action to a risk. The measure or action may already be used in other risks.

To add an existing RMS to a risk:

  1. On the "Manage risk" page, click the Select measure or Select action buttons.

2. In the list of existing measures or actions, toggle the switch of the measure or action to be added to blue (you can use the search field to find the measure or action).

3. Click Add. The measure or action is added to the risk.

Editing an RMS

You can edit an RMS:

  • in the risk

  • in the RMS library.

Regardless of the method chosen to edit an RMS, it will be modified in both its library and in all risks to which it has been added.

To edit an RMS in a risk:

  1. On the "Manage risk" page, click the measure or action you wish to edit.
  2. In the Edit dialog box, make the changes.

To edit a control, open the measure containing the control, click the control, make the changes and click Save.

3. Click Save.

To edit an RMS in its library:

  1. In the sidebar, click ManagementMeasures or Controls or Actions.
  2. On the page of the RMS, click the RMS to be edited.

You can use the filters to find an RMS (the Actions page will have filters in an upcoming version).

3. In the Edit dialog box, make the changes.

4. Click Save.

Removing an RMS from a risk

When you remove an RMS from a risk, the RMS remains in its library.

To remove an RMS from a risk:

  1. On the "Manage risk" page, on the line of the RMS, click "..." and select Remove.

2. In the dialog box that opens, confirm by clicking Remove.

Deleting an RMS

This procedure definitively deletes an RMS:

  • from its library

  • from all risks it was added to.

To delete an RMS:

  1. In the sidebar, click ManagementMeasures or Controls or Actions.
  2. On the page of the RMS, on the line of the RMS to be deleted, click "..." and select Delete.
